A few years ago, when I first moved to The Shoals, I was driving around the small town of Tuscumbia, AL and noticed some vintage trains sitting out front of an old depot house. I decided to stop and snap a few photos. Eventually I learned that the Tuscumbia Railway Depot was originally built in 1888 and used by the Memphis and Charleston Railroad as well as the Southern Railway Company. It has since been restored and transformed into a little museum.
The other day, while going through some old photos, I saw the images from that first visit and immediately wished I had more. The next day I decided to go back to explore but mainly to document some of the different logos and typography. Below are some of my favorites, including one featuring the infamous Southern Railway logo.
